RESUMO

In this paper, the voltage-transmittance curvesKDP crystals were measured accurately between two crossed or parallel polarizers using longitudinal electro-optic effect. The end faces of rectangular KDP samples were coated with ring-shaped electrodes using conductive silver paint (CSP). The change of half period voltage U i has been investigated. A method for quantitative characterization of residual stress has been proposed, based on deviation voltage U d. The results demonstrate that loading voltage is close to the integration of electric field intensity in crystal along the optical path when the CSP ring electrodes have a large outer radius R, small inner radius r, and long-distance d. The half-period voltage U i is also close to longitudinal half-wave voltage U π in these circumstances. The unclamped electro-optic coefficient γ63σ of KDP crystal at room temperature was measured as 10.24±0.05p m/V at the wavelength of 632.8 nm.

RESUMO

In this review, we introduce the progress in the growth of large-aperture DKDP crystals and some aspects of crystal quality including determination of deuterium content, homogeneity of deuterium distribution, residual strains, nonlinear absorption, and laser-induced damage resistance for its application in high power laser system. Large-aperture high-quality DKDP crystal with deuteration level of 70% has been successfully grown by the traditional method, which can fabricate the large single-crystal optics with the size exceeding 400 mm. Neutron diffraction technique is an efficient method to research the deuterium content and 3D residual strains in single crystals. More efforts have been paid in the processes of purity of raw materials, continuous filtration technology, thermal annealing and laser conditioning for increasing the laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) and these processes enable the currently grown crystals to meet the specifications of the laser system for inertial confinement fusion (ICF), although the laser damage mechanism and laser conditioning mechanism are still not well understood. The advancements on growth of large-aperture high-quality DKDP crystal would support the development of ICF in China.

RESUMO

We modified the conventional etching-optical method to measure dislocation direction in a KDP crystal. As burgers vector of dislocation in the KDP crystal must match the minimum periodic vector of the crystal lattice, we suggest that dislocations with a burgers vector of [101], [102] and [103] exist. Atomic force microscopy was employed to characterize the morphology of growth spirals on the hillock of (101) faces. Multi-spirals consisting of more than two element steps with a height of 0.5 nm which is equal to (101) face interplanar distances were observed. We propose the multi-spiral structure is determined by the burgers vector of the corresponding dislocation, and constructed a geometric model of the crystal with screw dislocation to derive the relationship. Growth spirals on the (101) face present a particular triangular morphology and we proved that the triangle structure is formed by connected steps in the 1/2[111] and [010] direction. Micropipes form when the magnitude of the dislocation's burgers vector exceeds 1 nm, as predicted by BCF theory. Interaction between dislocations was observed also.

RESUMO

This study aimed to investigate the association of serum hsCRP and urinary A1MG in patients with T2DM. Numerous investigations have proven that serum hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) concentration in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is increased. Also, increased urinary alpha-1 microglobulin (A1MG) can be an early sign of renal damage, primarily on the proximal tubules in T2DM. Little information is available with respect to the associations of serum hsCRP levels and urinary A1MG in T2DM. A total of 520 patients with T2DM were recruited to participate in this study. Serum hsCRP and UA1MG (urinary alpha1-microglobulin to creatinine ratio), UACR (urinary microalbumin to creatinine ratio), UIGG (urinary immunoglobulin G to creatinine ratio), and UTRF (urinary transferrin to creatinine ratio) were obtained. The association of serum hsCRP level and each urinary protein parameter was analyzed by using the regression analysis, respectively. LnhsCRP was positively associated with the lnUA1MG in all three linear regression models (adjusted ß in model 3=0.122, SE=0.027, P<0.001). Furthermore, the high hsCRP group (hsCRP > 3mg/L) was associated with increasing risk of high UA1MG (adjusted OR in model 3=1.610, 95% CI 1.037-2.499, P=0.034) by logistic regression. This study suggests that serum hsCRP levels independently associate with UA1MG in patients with T2DM. Further research is warranted to elucidate these interactions.

RESUMO

Transient numerical calculations were carried out to predict the evolution of temperature and thermal stress in traditionally grown large-size KDP crystals during the removal process, considering two methods that are used to accomplish the crystal extraction. The influence of the crystal size and the difference of temperature between the crystal and environment on the stresses inside the KDP crystals were also investigated in detail. Results indicate that, in both processes of isolating crystals, the highest stress transfers from the crystal periphery to the internal part from the early to the later time stage. In the case of extracting the crystal from solution directly after crystallization and exposing to air, the maximum stress at the crystal periphery is larger than that inside the crystal, and the probability of failure from the outside surface of crystals is large. In the case of retaining the solution for a time after crystallization, the maximum stress in the crystal internal region is larger than that of the crystal surface, leading to a large possibility to originate cracks in the inner region. Both increased crystal sizes and increased temperature differences between the crystals and the environment at the end of crystal growth are factors which aggravate crystal cracking. The maximum stress in crystals in the case of retaining the solution is less than that in the case of extracting the solution, which brings about a decreased likelihood of cracking. Thus, retaining solution for a period of time after the growth is completed, such as 96 h, is suggested to be adopted to accomplish successful crystal extraction.

RESUMO

The laser damaged threshold (LDT) of potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystals grown at different supersaturation points were investigated using a Nd:YAG nanosecond laser. The growth rate was measured by a laser polarization interference system. Combining the step slopes, the dependence of v-(σ) was obtained. It is interesting that the dependence of LDT-(σ) can also be divided into three areas and shows a similar dependence to that of v-(σ). The LDT reduces rapidly at the transition supersaturation area, and has the lowest value at σ = 0.07. In different supersaturation regions, the micro morphology of the KDP crystals was observed using an atomic force microscope. The nature of the step movement and bunching together of steps may contribute to the dependence of LDT-(σ).
